For this project, I chose to make an intro for the 2020 remake of the Digimon series. I used the storyboards to block out the basic strokes of the animation. Early on the process I chose that I’d be hand animating a good portion of the animation. In order to hand animate, I used my drawing tablet along with the program photoshop, and use the pen tool. I’d each layer as a frame, lower the opacity as reference to make the next frame of a characters movement. I’d also separate each background from a characters movement in order to make each animation frame. However, the process of making an image that at best would only be on screen for about 3 frames was extremely draining so after awhile, I would change the process to include more still frames and tried my best to reuse existing animation when needed. Although a good chunk of the video was hand animated, there were still sections that still relied on tools available to me with after effects, with the scale and rotation proving especially useful in the end and beginning, and basically having to use it for all of the text used.
