The project was to take an audio sample from either a video or song, and to create visuals for it using text as the primary element.
The audio comes from the sonic video. When storyboard for the audio of Sonic Adventure 2 Fandub by SnapCube, I wanted to match the energy of each scene that was happening, along with match the level of humor appearing. One of the first things I attempted to do was match the energy of each character that appears.
As for the animation of the text I wanted to give the feeling of interjection so certain parts will suddenly rush in to overlap any existing phrase, or having signs and coughs physically interact with the text like when I made the text move downwards in line with the cough or the exhale blowing away the text that’s been building with the chaos of the scene.
Finally I made some graphics for the text to interact with for certain big moments like when a character calls 911, and we see him dial 911 only for another character to claim to be the police dashing any hope of contacting the police for help along with the phone, and also making a background to match the setting of the scene from the original video.
